Ingredients
Wheat buns- 4
Ground chicken- 1lb
Pesto sauce- 2 tbsp + 4tsp
Red pepper- 1 medium finely chopped
Salt- 1tsp
Pepper- as needed
Method
- In a bowl, mix chicken, 2 tbsp pesto sauce,red pepper, salt and pepper.
- Cover and refrigerate for an hour for the flavors to blend in.
- Divide the mixture into four equal balls and press with the palm into patties.
- Grill or cook in a skillet until the center is no longer pink, preferably for 20 minutes.
- In the last few minutes, place a slice of swiss or pepper jack cheese on top of the patties.
- Toast the buns and spread inside of the top bun with 1tsp pesto sauce.
- Place a patty on a each bun, garnish with onion slices and serve warm.
