Tomato gravy




Ingredients

Onion- 1
Tomato-2
Green chillies- 2
Chilli powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1tsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
Salt- 3/4 tsp
Coriander leaves- to garnish

For tempering
Cinnamon- 1" stick
Cloves- 2
Fennel seeds- 1tsp
Curry leaves - few

To grind
 Grated coconut-1/4 cup

Method

  1. Chop onion and tomatoes into small pieces.
  2. Slit green chilli lengthwise.
  3. Grind the coconut with 1 cup of water into thick paste.
  4. In a pan heat oil and temper the  listed ingredients.
  5. Add onion, green chilli and tomatoes and saute for 5 minutes.
  6. Add all the powders  except garam masala and cook till the vegetable mixture is soft.
  7. Add the ground coconut and cook for 10 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala  and coriander leaves.

Serve hot with idlis or chapatis.
